Bridging Worlds: Carribean

Factual/People & Society/45 min/HD/2012

Part of a larger 11 film series on the Indian Diaspora across the world, these two films tells the tale of Indians in the Caribbean.  Set in the crossroads of two civilisations, countries like Guyana, Suriname, Jamiaca, Trinidad & Tobago attracted a large number of wayfarers. Some  moved on, but others stayed. And amongst the most important of those are the Indians who went as indentured labourers, but stayed to build nations.  Their descendants today are at the top of their fields, building the countries they live in, while holding strong to their traditions. Bolstered by more recent arrivals of entrepreneurs and skilled professionals, they've infused the melodies of India in the Caribbean's calypso beats.
